The Paisley House
I have always loved older homes. I have always dreamed of one day owning an old home that I could make my own but keep the beautiful integrity that it has. In March my dream came true. We bought the oldest occupied house in Greensboro. It was built in 1820, built downtown, with recycled wood from a courthouse in Virginia. It was later moved to Westerwood where it currently is today.
It is perfect. Tall ceilings, original wood floors, chandeliers and doors. As soon as we walked in it spoke to me (women know what I am talking about). I saw so much potential--it just needed a little TLC. There is still a lot to do but it is a work in progress. Our first project (minus paint) was the kitchen. I cannot wait to show you the results--It was a labor of love but worth every bit!
Just a side note: As far as paint goes, anyone that knows me knows that I love neutral. I get bored easily so I like to have a neutral palette where I can change throws, pillows, rugs, and curtains to add my color. Much easier to change those down the road when trends change. We used SW Icy Avalanche throughout the entire house and SW Repose Gray in the Dining Room and Library Room.
