Dining Room Table and Chalk Paint
Who doesn't love chalk paint?! I mean ANYONE can do it. It requires no sanding and no priming so it is ideal for those impatient people like my self. We were in search of the perfect dining room table that was very affordable. I love pieces with character (this is an ongoing trend for me) so consignment shopping is usually the route I will go. We went to Red Collection and found an amazing table (the lines were perfect) that came with 6 chairs for right at $400. The table was mahogany (beautiful but I wanted something a little different) so chalk paint was the way we went.
I would like to preface that my husband was planning a surprise birthday for me the night we started this project, luckily, my mom and sister were in town when we started this project. We completed it all in 3 hours but I do NOT recommend!
Ok, back to the project. We used Annie Sloan paint, stain, and sealer. We did 2 coats of the paint, waited to dry, lightly sanded, added stain where we wanted, they applied 2 light coats of the sealer (only to the top of the table). I later learned that you are supposed to seal then stain—that did not happen this project.
The chairs—I chose burlap and a french stripe due to cost purposes. Burlap is super inexpensive and it fit the theme of the room. The french stripe was used on the captain chairs. Words of advice—INVEST IN AN ELECTRIC STAPLER!!! We did not and my mom has just now fully recovered.
I almost forgot! The chandelier (if you can even call it that). It was an eye sore to me. It screamed builder basegrade—but unfortunately a new fixture was not even close in our budget, so we chalk painted it, added some burlap ribbon and some faux crystals and it we perfect!!
Now the fun stuff—the actual pictures!!
